PRESS RELEASE
January 3, 2007

The Main Hall Gallery plays host to Niculae Stoica’s exhibition, Feelings, a collection of highly-charged emotional pieces in acrylic. Stoica, who was born in Romania and who has been exhibiting in Europe and Canada since 1994, describes his paintings as the “materialization of feelings, a spiritual catalyst toward the art lover”. His bold and sumptuous brushstrokes create visual depth and emotion, while his play on colour and contrast create a mosaic-like effect. The subject matter is diverse, from landscapes to still life that is never quite still, but in turbulent, continual motion. The exhibition title is perhaps most clearly seen in his studies of the human body, from the desperate cries of “My Shriek” to the supine figures of “Cirque du Soleil”. Read the press release
